Huron Students Excel at Ohio Model United Nations Conference

Twenty juniors and seniors attended the Ohio Model United Nations Conference in Columbus this past week. Over 1,200 students from Ohio participated in the three-day leadership and international policy conference.
Outstanding Achievements
Congratulations to Rachel Merckens and Ellie Lesnett, who were voted outstanding delegates, and Claire Putnam, who took first place in the World Problem Solving contest.
Countries Represented by Huron Students
Huron High School students represented four countries during the conference. Countries and topics debated by Huron students included:
- Austria - Improve and maintain educational opportunities for immigrants
- Cuba - Low-carbon mini grid program to help aid the energy crisis
- Poland - Address Russia's role in the UN Security Council
- Venezuela - Develop a program called Seeds of Strength to support agriculture
This conference provided students with valuable experience in diplomacy, critical thinking, and public speaking while addressing global challenges. We're proud of our students for representing Huron with excellence and leadership!
